American School Bus Council (ASBC)

ASBC was formed in 2006 to educate parents, school officials, lawmakers, and the public about the essential safety, environmental, and equal-access to education benefits of the iconic yellow school bus. It is a coalition of the school transportation community—including public and private transportation providers, school bus manufacturers and state officials responsible for pupil transportation. Council members are committed to providing safe, effective, and efficient transportation for the more than 25 million schoolchildren who ride more than 480,000 school buses each day.

The council’s members include National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS), National School Transportation Association (NSTA), Blue Bird Corp. of Fort Valley, Ga., IC Bus Corporation of Lisle, Ill., and Thomas Built Buses of High Point, N.C.

NAPT is the world’s premier market space for public and private student transportation service providers and the companies that support them. Focused on safe and efficient student transportation, NAPT is dedicated to helping the industry engage in policy making that enhances operational safety and administrative efficiency.

NSTA serves as the leading resource for school bus transportation solutions. Members are dedicated to providing access to safe, secure, environmentally-responsible and cost-effective school bus transportation services throughout the nation. Since 1964, NSTA has provided school transportation professionals with the tools and resources they need to make school buses safe, secure, affordable, and efficient.

Established in 1968, the NASDPTS is comprised of state and national leaders in school bus transportation, local school transportation administrators, suppliers of products and services, as well as grassroots practitioners. The membership represents all 50 states, the District of Columbia, school bus manufacturers and suppliers, state and national transportation associations, and others who support its mission and purpose.

SUPPORTERS: The council is supported by Blue Bird Corp. of Fort Valley, Ga., IC Bus Corporation of Lisle, Ill., and Thomas Built Buses of High Point, N.C.
